What is CBD, exactly?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the (industrial) hemp used in our products. It is derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant know more commonly as the Cannabis plant. CBD is a major phytocannabinoid, accounting for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. CBD does not have any psychoactive effects such as those caused by tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Our product is 100% legal for sale and consumption in the UK.
How does CBD work?

The human body has an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that receives and translates signals it receives from cannabinoids in the body. The body produces some cannabinoids on its own, which are called endocannabinoids. The ECS helps regulate functions such as sleep, immune-system responses, and pain. THC produces a ‘high’ feeling by affecting the brain’s endocannabinoid receptors. This activates the brain’s reward system, producing pleasure chemicals such as dopamine. CBD is an entirely different compound, and its effects are very complex. It is not psychoactive, meaning it does not produce a ‘high’ or change a person’s state of mind. Instead, it influences the body to use its own endocannabinoids more effectively.
Is CBD legal?

Yes. CBD oil does not produce a high, as it has less than 0.2% of the psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol, so it is legal in the UK.
What is cannabis?

Cannabis, also known as marijuana among other names, is a psychoactive drug from the Cannabis plant intended for medical or recreational use.
What is THC?

Tetrahydrocannabinol, (THC) is the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis. It is removed from all Hashtag Organic Ltd products before distribution and sale.

Homeostasis can be defined as the stable state of an organism and of its internal environment, as the maintenance or regulation of the stable condition, or its equilibrium, or simply as the balance of bodily functions. The stable condition is the condition of optimal functioning for the organism, and is dependent on many variables, such as body temperature and fluid balance, being kept within certain pre-set limits.
Endocannabinoid system (ECS)

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system composed of endocannabinoids, which bind to cannabinoid receptors, and cannabinoid receptor proteins that are expressed throughout the mammalian central nervous system (including the brain) and peripheral nervous system. The endocannabinoid system is involved in regulating a variety of physiological and cognitive processes including fertility, pregnancy, during pre-and postnatal development, appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory, and in mediating the pharmacological effects of cannabis. The ECS is also involved in mediating some of the physiological and cognitive effects of voluntary physical exercise in humans and other animals, such as contributing to exercise-induced euphoria as well as modulating locomotor activity and motivational salience for rewards.
What is hemp?

Hemp is typically grown in the northern hemisphere. It is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species that is grown specifically for the industrial/medical uses of its derived products.
What are Adaptogens?

Adaptogens are nontoxic herbs that have a normalizing and balancing effect on the body and promote homeostasis. Adaptogens may also protect the body from the toxic effects of stress.
